Issue

Despite a valid LANDESK antivirus subscription, Security and Compliance Manager is not able any more to download the newest antivirus definition.

Instead the LDMS Security and Compliance Manager displays the following error:

Checking for updates...

Invalid XML file 951_updates.xml. There is an error in XML document (2, 2).

No updates found.

Completed updating definitions

Rebooting the core server or switching to another update source site doesn't help.  Additionally the vaminer.log shows the following entries:

INFO  6580:1: Processing LANDESK Antivirus Updates
INFO  6580:1: Invalid XML file 951_updates.xml. There is an error in XML document (2, 2).

Cause

This issue appears because one or more antivirus configuration files got corrupted on the core server.

Resolution

Step 1

Close the LANDESK Console

Step 2

On the core server, open Windows explorer and locate the following files:

C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\antivirus8\Mac\basesEP\LdBasesInfo.xml

C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\antivirus8\Mac\pre.basesEP\LdBasesInfo.xml

C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\antivirus8\Win\bases8\LdBasesInfo.xml

C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\antivirus8\Win\basesEP\LdBasesInfo.xml

C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\antivirus8\Win\pre.basesEP\LdBasesInfo.xml

Step 3

Rename each file - for instance, you can add the ".old" extension to each filename.

Step 4

Launch the console - this will recreate the configuration files renamed in step 2.

Try again to download the newest LANDESK antivirus definition.

This should fix the issue.
