Symptoms |
The RC settings, Inventory settings, Client Connectivity settings are new settings in LDMS 9.5 SP1 and/ or SP2, The agent is upgraded from LDMS 9.5, vulscan can't download those settings.
The result of scheduled security scan task show some error message: "unable to get the setting from core".
Cause |
- Run scan task on one client machine.

- Looking in the vulscan.log you will see the following information:
GetFileHash: could not find "C:\ProgramData\vulScan\RCBehavior_Apply.zip"
GetFileHash: could not find "C:\ProgramData\vulScan\InventorySettingsBehavior_<CoreServerName>_v###.xml"
GetFileHash: could not find "C:\ProgramData\vulScan\InventorySettingsBehavior_Apply.zip"
GetFileHash: could not find "C:\ProgramData\vulScan\ClientConnectivityBehavior_<CoreServerName_v###.xml"
GetFileHash: could not find "C:\ProgramData\vulScan\ClientConnectivityBehavior_Apply.zip"
Those are from new settings that were introduced in SP1 and/or SP2. Vulscan is automatically updated and knows to look for those new settings, however they have not yet been created.

Create an RCBehavior, Inventory, and Client Connectivity in agent settings, they should be able to send a change settings task to set the client to use the specified settings.
Steps to Create RC settings and re-save the Inventory and Client Connectivity settings:
1. To Create New Settings:
- In the Management Suite Console go to Tools - Configuration - Agent Settings.
- Expand My Agent Settings, select Remote control Settings.
- Right click in the settings list, and select "New..."
2. Repeat Step 1 with the other missing items it.
3. To Apply Settings To A Task:
- In the Management Suite Console go to Tools - Distribution - Scheduled Tasks.
- Locate the task you would like to change the Inventory/ Client Connectivity on.
- Right click on the task and select Properties.
- Go to the Agent Settings section.
- In the "Settings" column, double click on the "Keep agent's current settings" next to Inventory and Client Connectivity settings
- Select the desired Inventory and Client Connectivity Setting from the drop down list.
- Click Save.
**If you have already started the task, you will need to restart the task for the change to take effect. Any machines that receive the task after that will use the newly assigned setting.

Whichever setting is applied to agent as its default will update automatically whenever vulscan.exe runs (Once per day by default).
